Why Join?
The island of Tierra del Fuego has achieved a unique environmental milestone: it is the first province in Argentina to ban single-use disposables.
This has been possible thanks to the environmental commitment of every citizen, and we would love for you to be part of this solution. Our goal is to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste generated and accumulated on our island, especially single-use plastics.
The proposal is very simple: we invite you to sign a pledge to make your trip as sustainable as possible.
How Can You Join?
By joining the Ushuaia Eco Pledge, you commit to adopting more mindful habits during your stay. Every small action counts!
To help you reduce your plastic footprint, here are some very simple actions you can apply:

Your Reusable Bottle: Bring or buy your own bottle and refill it. The water in Ushuaia is of excellent quality and safe to drink.

Always Bring a Bag: Use a reusable bag for your shopping or souvenirs. In Tierra del Fuego, single-use plastic bags are not allowed.

Say No to Takeaway: Whenever possible, choose to dine in instead of ordering takeaway, which generates plastic containers and cutlery.

Refuse the Unnecessary: Politely decline single-use plastic items such as straws, stirrers, or extra packaging.

Personal Care Items: Travel with your own toiletries or choose hotels that provide refill systems and avoid disposable plastic containers. The sale and distribution of plastic cotton swabs is banned in Ushuaia.

No Straws: Enjoy your drinks without single-use plastic straws. Their distribution is prohibited in Ushuaia.

Plastic-Free Breakfast: Choose accommodations that serve breakfast without single-use plastic containers.

Cigarette Butts Are Trash Too: Keep your cigarette butts and dispose of them in the nearest trash bin. They are highly polluting, and wildlife can mistake them for food.
